Swiss Army Founder, Mr. Karl Elsener wanted to create a product that would have a demand and would generate some profit from it. Elsener and Victorinox turned their attention to wrist watches once the knives started to gain popularity. The birth of the Swiss Army Watch came about as a result of this and since then, styles have changed and various types have been added to its catalog. The Swiss Army watch performance and quality are unmatched and are known all over the world. They are definitely making thier stamp in the global watch market and looking good at it. In 1897, the Original Swiss Army Knife was created in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. The company legally registers the name Swiss Officers and Sports Knife.
In 1921 owner Karl Elsener created the name Victorinox combining his Mother's name, Victoria with "inox" , a french abbreviation meaning "stainless steel"
In 1945, word of the Swiss Army Brand goes global and GI's from around the world in World War II purchases it from PX's.
In 1989, Victorinox enters the US timepiece market and introduces the "Swiss Army" trademark.
In 2007, Victorinox starts to designate the name "Victorinox Swiss Army" on the dial of each watch manufactured.
2009 saw the 125th year anniversary of Swiss Army Watch.
