In 1862, Edoard Heuer patented the first crown winding mechanism for pocket watches receiving a silver medal award at the 1869 Paris World Fair. 1895 saw the emergence of the Tag Heuer patented first water resistant cases for pocket watches. In 1920, Tag was designated to be the official timekeeper of the Antwerp Olympic Games, Paris in 1924 games and Amsterdam in 1928. In 1945, General Eisenhower purchases a Tag Heuer chronograph and signs the movement, dial and case.
Tag Heuer Swiss Watches in Car Competitions
In the 50's and 60's, Tag can bee seen being used in numerous car competitions and rallies all over the world. The more famous ones were the Panamericana rally that was held in Mexico to celebrate the completion of Mexico's section of the Panamerica Highway. During 1969 to 1971, Tag Heuer introduced the very first wrist chronograph fitted with an automatic self winding movement. Tag Heuer was chosen as Team Ferrari's official timekeeper from 1971 to 1979 and won Formula 1 world titles in 1975 and 1977. Tag Heuer launched the world's first LCS pocket sized quartz stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second.

1980, Tag Heuer is designated official timekeeper of the Olympic Games in Lake Placid and Moscow. Heuer joins the "Tag" group in the year 1985 and changed thier logo and name to Tag-Heuer and gained acknowledgement as well as popularity.
