In the first decade of the 1900's, Hamilton watches were supplied to the US Armed forces fighting in Europe. Hamilton designed the first wristwatch in 1917, but only meant for the men entering World War I and pendent watches for women.

Hamilton continued to produce some of the finest American watches until 1969, earning them the distinction of being the only American watch company to suvive global competition well into the 20th century. They truly represent the pinnacle of American watchmaking.

Hamilton Watches in World War II

During World War II, the production of all consumer Hamilton watches were stopped and the production of watches were exclusive for the United States military. Close to one million Hamilton watches were produced. The Hamilton company was extremely successful in producing chronometers and deck watches in large numbers to fill the needs of the US Navy and other Allied navies as well.
