In the first decade of the 1900's, Hamilton watches were supplied to the US Armed forces fighting in Europe. Hamilton designed the first wristwatch in 1917, but only meant for the men entering World War I and pendent watches for women.

Hamilton continued to produce some of the finest American watches until 1969, earning them the distinction of being the only American watch company to suvive global competition well into the 20th century. They truly represent the pinnacle of American watchmaking.

Hamilton Watches in World War II

During World War II, the production of all consumer Hamilton watches were stopped and the production of watches were exclusive for the United States military. Close to one million Hamilton watches were produced. The Hamilton company was extremely successful in producing chronometers and deck watches in large numbers to fill the needs of the US Navy and other Allied navies as well.

Hamilton Watches Firsts

This Hamilton watch was on the wrist of the first American to scale Mount Everest, accompanied Admiral Byrd on expeditions to the North and South Poles and was onboard the ballon ride with the Picards on their accent to the stratosphere.

Hamilton was credited for designing marine Chrono-Meter using modern techniques. Hamilton brought revolution in the world of watch making by introducing the world's first electric watch in 1957. The Hamilton watches are a fusion of strong American spirit with the incomparable precision of the latest Swiss movements and technology.

In 1972, Hamilton shocks the world by introducing the world's first digital watch. This was the first of its kind digital watch that was desinged and manufactured in its headquarters in Pennsylvania. Since that time, Hamilotn watches have continued to be in the forefront of watchmaking and a watch for collectors.

The company is currently owned by Swatch Group Ltd and named as Swatch Group Hamilton. Hamilton Watches not only epitomizes its beauty but also proved to be a style statement for all.
