Cartier Watches History
The Cartier watch company began in Paris, France in 1847 when Louis Francois Cartier continued and took over his master's workshop. His son, Alfred took over the Cartier company in 1874 and together with his sons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques made the brand more successful and recognized internationally.

In 1917, the Carteir Tank was launched and was inspired by the great war machines of the Allied forces who helped defend France during World War I. It has been in production for more than 90 years.
1920 saw the partnership of Edward Jaeger of Jaeger-Le Coultre to provide watch movements exclusively for Cartier which produced trustworthy and reliable watches and enabled Cartier to further improve on their reputation as manufacturers of fine luxury watches.
In 1942, Louis Cartier passed away and his successors were unable to continue his artistic vision and genious. Due to this, Cartier became financially stagnant and in 1972, a group of investors led by Alain Perrin regained its growth back. Alain developed the "Le Must" line and re-established Cartier as innovative and fashionable watch manufacturer.
